Some Rambling Notes of an Idle Excursion
Жанр:
Зарубежная классика
The narrator recounts a trip taken for pure recreation, without any business obligations. The Reverend accompanies them. They board a boat in New Haven and enjoy the freedom and distance from their everyday responsibilities. The narrator heads to their stateroom but is too captivated by the night to sleep. They overhear a conversation between two elderly men discussing their village cemetery. The men talk about how crowded and small the old cemetery was and how they decided to purchase plots in a new cemetery on the hill. The men discuss the cost and the size of the plots, ultimately choosing between Plot 8 for $13 or Plot 9 for $14. The passage ends before revealing which plot the man purchased.
