Chapter one

Fist trees

In ancient times,

only grass and flowers grew on the earth. There were no trees yet. But one day, when the sun was shining brightly and the wind was gentle, a miracle happened.

As if by magic, little shoots began to grow from the ground. At first they were very weak and thin, but with each passing day they grew stronger and taller.

These were the first trees. They reached for the sun, their leaves caught the wind, and their roots went deep into the earth to get water and nutrients. The trees grew and became stronger, and soon a real forest appeared on the earth.

Chapter two

About the character of trees

Different trees lived in this forest: tall and slender pines, curly birches, mighty oaks. Each tree had its own character and its own preferences. Pines liked to stand on the tops of hills to be the first to meet the dawn. The pines had powerful trunks covered with rough scaly bark, storing the stories of many generations. The deep roots of the pines held firmly in the ground, allowing them to withstand strong winds. In winter, the pines remained green. Their needles, collected in bunches, did not fall off, but were renewed gradually. The cones, small and green at first, ripened and turned brown. The cones opened their scales to release winged seeds. Birches preferred to grow near rivers and lakes so that their leaves could be reflected in the water. The snow-white crowns of birches with dark strokes, as if dressed in lace, showed off next to other trees.
