"METEOR RAIN" is a book about Flight engineer Yuryev who wakes up to the sound of a siren warning him about a stream of meteors. He realizes that the regular solar panels have failed, and he doesn't have any replacements. However, he remembers that there are 500 serviceable Soviet transistors P-214 with germanium crystals in the warehouse. Yuryev decides to use these transistors as makeshift solar panels. After eight hours of work, he manages to mount 50 transistors on a board and replaces the damaged solar panels. The homemade solar batteries start accumulating energy, allowing the station to recharge its batteries and communicate with the Mission Control Center on Earth.
